Lewarne is a spacious, Victorian house comfortably sleeping up to eight people. It is ideal for families, couples or friends holidaying together. Built on the side of a valley with views over the picturesque village of Boscastle. The village and its beautiful harbour are under ten minutes walk away. It is ideally located for coastal walking, enjoying Boscastle’s many attractions and for exploring North Cornwall’s villages like Tintagel, Port Isaac, Padstow and Rock.
Reputed to have been a retired sea captain’s villa, Lewarne retains many of its original features like the fireplaces and high ceilings, combined with modern conveniences like central heating and recently refurbished bathrooms.
Approximately 20 slate steps lead down to the front door and a small patio with bench seating which overlooks the village. (Steps can be slippery in wet weather.) Lewarne is entered into a tiled hallway.
The lounge features wooden floor, original open fireplace (initial basket of coal/logs provided between October and April), comfortable seating for eight, flatscreen TV with FreeSat, DVD and views of the village below. The dining room has a wooden dining table and chairs, ornamental fireplace (not in use), window seat and views over the valley.
The well-equipped fitted kitchen features the original flagstone floor, cooker with hob and extractor fan, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier and fridge/freezer. A breakfast room is just off with wooden table and chairs for six, wood dresser and wood floor. It leads to a sheltered patio with garden furniture, BBQ (stored in the boiler room), and views over the valley and the village.
The ground floor shower room has shower cubicle with electric shower over, matching toilet and handbasin and a shaver point.
On the first floor are four bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom has a bath with shower over, matching toilet and handbasin and a shaver point.
Bedroom one is a large, light, dual aspect room with valley views from the four-poster double bed, bedside tables with lamps, matching wood chests, dresser and built-in wardrobe. Bedroom two is a double room with valley views, bedside tables and lamps, matching chests and dresser with mirror and a built-in wardrobe
Bedroom three is a twin room with patio view, two 3' single beds with bedside chest and lamp, wardrobe and wall mirror. Bedroom four has two 3' single beds, bedside table and lamp, built-in wardrobe, a video/DVD player and view of the patio and valley.
A steep footpath leads through the garden to the village. Care is needed and young children should be supervised. Between October and April, on-road parking is available outside Lewarne. At other times, free on-road parking is available directly below the house on Old Road.
Rental includes bedlinen, electricity and central heating. There is a telephone for incoming calls. Towels are not provided. Lewarne is a non-smoking property and accepts one small dog at £25 per week.
