Camborne was the heart of Cornwall’s former tin mining industry and the home of engineer Richard Trevithick, honoured annually in April with the Trevithick Day festival. Sadly, the last tin mine closed a few years ago but at the nearby Camborne School of Mines Geological Museum and Art Gallery, visitors will learn about the history of Cornish mining and the lives and working conditions of Cornish miners.
The town is close to Carn Brea Leisure Centre and not far from the resorts of the north coast of West Cornwall.
