Lizard Lighthouse is positioned at the Southern-most tip of mainland Britain and the six newly refurbished adjacent cottages enjoy unrivalled access to breathtaking scenery and coastal walking, literally from the front door. Rare birds, rare flowers and even the occasional school of dolphins can be spotted from the cliff tops surrounding the accommodation, yet you are just a ¼ mile from Lizard village with its friendly pub, shops and restaurants.
The working lighthouse was established in 1619, with the current towers being built in 1752. In 1924 it became the first electrically powered lighthouse before being fully automated in 1998 with a 26 mile light range and an automatic 3 mile fog signal if conditions are misty.
The on-site visitor centre provides tours of the working lighthouse and an opportunity to learn about the work of Trinity House (the number of visitors will not normally affect your privacy).
'Wolf Rock' is the first of the Lighthouse Cottages at the west end and incorporates the unused West Tower as part of the accommodation! (See picture).
The circular floor of the tower is the dining room, off which 32 stone spiral steps lead you upwards to 'the observatory'. (Children must be supervised). Here a quiet seating area provides tranquillity, or stand at the windows for a breathtaking 180 degree view around Lizard Point.
Entered from the enclosed courtyard into the spacious hallway with original slate floor and plenty of room for coats and boots. Off the hallway to the one side is the family bathroom with matching toilet, sink and bath with shower over, heated towel rail and extractor. There is also a ground floor twin bedroom and en suite shower room, with shower cubicle, toilet and sink.
Off the hallway to the other side is the well-equipped kitchen with excellent sea views, breakfast table, electric oven, 4-ring hob with extractor over, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave. Through to the lounge with superb sea views, comfy seating for six, LCD TV (with Freeview) and DVD player. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, one with double bed and one with 3' twin beds, both with excellent sea views, wardrobes, bedside tables and lamps.
Seating is provided in the small courtyard. Parking is provided for two cars. Rental includes bedlinen, towels, electricity, central heating, cot and high chair (if required). Regret no dogs and no smoking. Children must be supervised at all times.

Spent autumn half term at Wolf Rock and it was really special. The most spacious and the most well-equipped holiday cottage I've ever stayed in. You just can't beat having your own tower!
Wolf Rock Lizard Lighthouse on 12/09/2009
Stayed here with another couple for whitsun week and had a lovely time. Walked for miles around the lovely coastal path and generally had a very relaxing holiday. The cottage was excellent, equipped with everything we needed and more besides. Very clean and tidy and the flowers and welcome pack received on arrival were very welcoming. If the weather was bad at any time, the views from the living room and especially kitchen windows were unsurpassable. We even think we saw seals while we were there. The resident seagull was fed well too!!

I have just got back from a week's stay at Wolf Rock at the Lizard Lighthouse and had an excellent time! I just wanted to commend you for such fantastic accommodation which was both well equipped and spacious - all of us fell in love with the lighthouse at first glance and were even more pleased with our choice once we got inside. If there was one little tiny thing to comment about, is that for a family sized apartment, it could have done with another clothes horse... there was only one and five adults clothes take up a lot of room..especially when the weather can be so changeable - just a thought! All of the staff I have spoken to at Cornish Cottages have been really helpful and friendly - thank you again for such great service. We hope to visit Cornwall again soon and will definitely be using you again, as well as recommending you of course :)
