This very well known building in Mullion village has a varied history. Previously a chapel, a hotel, a pub and more recently The Cottage Restaurant, it is now a very well-appointed holiday cottage. Right in the village centre but spacious, with covered off-road parking for one vehicle as well as a courtyard patio. Recently refurbished, Forget-me-not Cottage has mainly exposed wooden floorboards with rugs, and beamed ceilings throughout. Full of character and offering a very convenient location for a family holiday.
Best entered through the car-port and into the courtyard at the rear where there is a back door into the well-equipped kitchen. Having an integrated fridge freezer, built-in microwave, integrated washer dryer, integrated dishwasher, Belfast sink, electric oven and 4-ring halogen hob with extractor over, all finished nicely with granite work tops. The ground floor is a large open-plan area offering two lounge seating areas as well as a separate dining area. At one end of the lounge is the ‘quiet’ area, with large coffee table and comfy sofa, and a large inglenook fireplace with multifuel stove. The stove has a safety guard that helps prevent young fingers getting hot, but also provides a useful area to keep a small dog while the stove is not lit. At the other end of the lounge is a large wall-mounted LCD TV with freeview, DAB radio with iPod docking facility and comfy seating for five people. Both lounge areas also have additional window seating. The dining area has a large extending table and chairs for six people.
On the first floor are the three bedrooms and bathroom. Bedroom one is very large, an ornamental fireplace at one end with large mirror above, built-in wardrobes, large chest of drawers with LCD TV / DVD combi. At the other end is a 4'6" double bed with bedside tables and lamps. Bedroom two is a twin room with two 3' single beds, bedside tables and lamps and a double 'tall boy' wardrobe. The single room has a 3' single bed, bedside table and lamp and a chest of drawers. Hanging space is available on the back of the door or shared with the other bedrooms. The large family bathroom has electric shower over the bath, matching toilet and handbasin with mirror over, extractor fan and heated towel rail.
Mullion offers a variety of shops, including a greengrocers and two good food pubs, and is just one mile from the coast at either Poldhu Cove, Polurrian Cove or Mullion Harbour. Rental includes bedlinen, electricity, central heating, towels, cot and high chair, if required. One dog is accepted by prior arrangement at £25 per week. Smoking only permitted in the courtyard which also has garden furniture and BBQ provided. The beamed ceilings on the ground floor are low and care needs to be taken if you are 6' or above, especially when descending the stairs.
We stayed here just before christmas for our 30th wedding anniversary. the village was decorated so wonderfully, the cottage was very cosy, and idealy situated, could not be more central in the village, and easy walks to all the coves too. cannot reccomend this cottage enough....we just loved it !!!
